Katie Beckett is a MaineCare option for children with serious health conditions. It is one of the many ways your child can get MaineCare. If your child meets the rules for this option, your child can get MaineCare full benefits. These are the same benefits that other children get.
Maine, and every state in the nation, has a health insurance program for infants, children and teens. In Maine it is called Cub Care.
“The Maine SHIP is a health insurance assistance program funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal Medicare agency. SHIP services are sponsored in Maine by the Office of Aging and Disability Services, Maine’s five Area Agencies on Aging, and Legal Services for the Elderly, Inc.”
CHIP provides low-cost health coverage to children in families that earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid. In some states, CHIP covers pregnant women. Each state offers CHIP coverage, and works closely with its state Medicaid program.
