Maine Parent Federation Our Mission The Maine Parent Federation, Inc. is a statewide family support organization which promotes individual aspirations for all people through information, education and advocacy. Please support our generous 2011 donors, click here for a list The Maine Parent Federation, Inc. is a statewide private non-profit organization that provides information, advocacy, education, and training to parents and professionals to benefit all children. We promote individual aspirations and community inclusion for people with disabilities. In existence since 1984, MPF is physically located in Augusta Maine, but assistance is available on a statewide basis. MPF services are offered at no cost to parents. A donation to Maine Parent Federation is suggested from professional groups. Regular office hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Walk-ins are welcome. Starting POINTS for Maine Maine Parent Federation is pleased to announce the launch of our Community website, “Starting Points for Maine”: www.startingpointsforme.org. Click here for more information.Share Your Story and Get $100.00! Maine Parent Federation (MPF) is looking for parents of children with a behavioral health diagnosis and youth who have a diagnosis and would like to share information about their life experiences. Up to five contributors will be selected. All you need to do is complete a simple application and we will get in touch with you. Contributors will post to the Parent Perspectives section of MPF's online community Starting POINTS for Maine (www.startingpointsforme.org) and can write about any behavioral health topic that they have personal experiences with and would be comfortable sharing, such as: learning a diagnosis for the first time, navigating service systems, talking to others about having a disability, advocacy, getting the supports you need, school and family life, friendships and relationships, or tips and strategies that have worked for you. Applications are open to Maine families and youth. MPF will be awarding up to five $100.00 stipends. If you are interested in receiving a $100.00 stipend for being selected as a contributor to the Starting POINTS Parent Perspectives Forum, please complete our brief application and we will be in touch with you. Julia Bell, Executive Director of the Maine Developmental Disabilities Council, lends her personal experience to the introduction. She is followed by parents individually describing the empowerment they've gained from knowledge sharing, peer support, self-advocacy and more, all of which can lead to intergenerational resiliency—the ability to pass on the strength, knowledge and skills they gain to their children and others.
